Victoria Thomas, Clinical Trainee, Walden University

Hello. I am an empathetic and compassionate therapist intern at South Sac MHC who is passionate about helping people from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Sacramento State University and am currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University, with a specialization in marriage, family, and couples counseling.

I believe that the path to healing is not just about arriving at the destination but is just as much about the journey getting there. I understand that deciding to walk this path can seem frightening, bleak, and discouraging, especially when it appears like one has to walk it alone. Albeit, I want to assure you that you don't have to walk your journey alone. In therapy, my goal is to meet you where you are and to work with you every step of the way, providing hope, empowerment, guidance, and support.

I have experience working with diverse populations and have worked in the mental health field for several years, helping people experiencing crisis and suffering from mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia. I've been trained in trauma-informed care, and my approach to therapy is an integrative one, rooted in a humanistic framework, including person-centered, strength-based, solution-focused, and emotion-focused therapies.
I look forward to working with you and walking the path of healing together.

Some things I enjoy doing in my free time are spending time in nature, going on walks, and talking and visiting with friends.

Yashimere Yancy, Social Work Trainee, Capella University
